Testimonials

Don't just take our word for it. Here are some testimonials from Parents and
Ex-Pupils.

"Shayne has an excellent rapport with all the children. She provides a personalised approach to meet individual’s needs, capitalising on their strengths. She is enthusiastic, supportive and encouraging bringing out the best in all her students.

She excels at nurturing the simple need to grow in confidence and at the same time caters for the burning ambition to make it on stage. I have been fortunate to watch her guide and teach both my children and see them grow from strength to strength with each production. Shayne is passionate about the children she teaches. I highly recommend her classes."

JULIE MICHAEL (PARENT)

"As a member of The Shayne Guinness Stage School (now HYT) from an early age I was given a great foundation for my professional career.

I have never forgotten the discipline and skills Shayne instilled in all her students. I can thoroughly recommend joining The Highland Youth Theatre .If you are looking for a career in acting or just for fun this amazing theatre school has so much to offer."

GLEN HANNAH (EX-PUPIL AND PROFESSIONAL ACTOR)

"I started with Shayne when I was five the best part is having the opportunity to go on stage this gave me confidence, now at fifteen I still love it and especially enjoy helping backstage where Shayne has taught me about lighting and stage management."

STEFFI HUDSON (15, EX-PUPIL)

"I first joined Shayne in 2002 and attended for four years during my time at the school I took part in variety shows, pantomimes and musicals. My passion for acting was started in those courses thank you Shayne. I whole heartedly recommend attending the Highland Youth Theatre drama courses they are a great way to learn about acting, improve confidence, make new friends and take part in an activity that is truly exciting and great fun!"

GRANT REID (16, EX-PUPIL)

"As a former pupil of both The Shayne Guinness Stage School and Tick Tock Theatre company I spent many happy years acting and dancing with Shayne. She helped me turn my wonderful hobby into a wonderful career and we often joke as I call her my second mum!

She took me through my dance teacher training and I now employ other teachers and run a very successful school of performing arts in the West Midlands. Twenty-three years later, I am pleased to say Shayne is still my mentor. From drama through ballet, tap, modern Shayne is amazing. If it wasn’t for the sixteen hour round trip I’d be sending my kids!"

CAROLINE LEWIS NOW PRINCIPAL OF THE CAROLINE LEWIS SCHOOL OF PERFORMING ARTS (EX-PUPIL)

"I spent my youth training with Shayne and was privileged to appear in a number of shows and performances under her direction. For me, entertainment became my life, both in a professional performance capacity and now as a producer and senior Operations Manager within the entertainment business. I can honestly say that the standards and values that I impart to my performers, managers and agents today are as a direct result of working with Shayne. Never accept 'second best', never 'put up with', always 'strive to do it better'........and always, always with a smile on your face.

Whether you are pursuing a hobby or a career, you will find many teachers and schools that will teach you the steps to dance, the lines to speak and the notes to sing. But you won't find many that will teach you how to really perform. That's what really makes the difference. Did Shayne inspire me?..............She unknowingly built my career."

BEN O'HARA (EX-PUPIL)

"I am a professional actor, director & producer working in both theatre & film. I am a guest lecturer in drama at various universities across the country, whilst also being a co-director of Pro-Actors Ltd - an arts based company providing management training & development for large organisations, city councils & local government.

From age 9 - 16 I attended classes & appeared in productions led by Shayne Cameron (then Guinness) and learned fundamental skills that are essential to the field I now work in. These valuable 'tools of the trade' are rarely learned in schools, and Shayne's incredible knowledge and experience of working in the theatre industry really put me ahead of the game when applying for university & drama school. Indeed, many of Shayne's strategies I regularly use for auditions & throughout my performance work.

She is a wonderful teacher and mentor, and any young person with ambition to work in the world of performance would be lucky to have her as a teacher. Thank you Shayne - I wouldn't be in the position I am now without you."
